TLG honoring SEDD for combating commercial fraud

According to the United States Trade Representative's recent report on worldwide Intellectual Property (IP) compliance, the UAE has made progress on long-standing IP enforcement concerns thanks to a series of IP enforcement measures implemented by several local governments and federal agencies.

The UAE has increased inspection activities using technology to combat fraud and counterfeiting. Over the last years, the UAE also signed many international accords to safeguard intellectual property rights.

This commitment to putting in place strong Intellectual Property regulatory standards and mechanisms to enforce these standards has led the USTR to acknowledge the UAE’s efforts in combating IP infringement and counterfeiting, therefore, removing it off its IP watch list.

The Legal Group’s Intellectual Property Team including the partners Althea Edwina and Mohammad Al-Sharif, along with Kamran Sarwar, Brands Protection Manager at Al-Futtaim Automotive, and Mohammed Deib, were honored to present a plaque of appreciation to Ali Fadel, Director of the Commercial Protection and Control Department, and Mohaned Rajab from Sharjah Economic Development Department (SEDD). They were acknowledged for the longstanding contribution toward protection and enforcement of intellectual property rights and combating commercial fraud.
