IP Australia’s official fees to increase from October 1st, 2020

Starting from October 1st, 2020, IP Australia is increasing its fees for the services it provides in respect of trademarks, patents, and registered designs.

Such amendment ponders IP Australia's policy of inciting the utilization of its electronic filing system and asserting that its fees reflect the costs of administering the IP rights system. Thus, it is recommended for trademark owners who aspire to capitalize on the current reduced fees, to take prompt action and consider filing new trademark applications before the changes enter into force.

Most changes will come into effect on 1 October 2020. However, changes to the fees for international registrations designating Australia are scheduled to commence from 7 November 2020.
