UAE Cybercrime Law Amended

DECREE NO 02 OF 2018
Issued in August 2018 as Emiri Decree No. 02 of 2018 (“Cybercrime Law Amendment”), the new decree amends the United Arab Emirates’ (“UAE”) Federal Decree Law No. 5 of 2012 On Combating Cybercrimes (“Cybercrime Law”).
 
KEY PROVISIONS
Decree No. 02 of 2018 amends the sanctions provided under Articles 26, 28 and 42 of the UAE’s Cybercrime Law and primarily stipulates harsher penalties for actions committed such as and not limited to managing websites for terrorism, inciting hate, adjudged to be inciting acts against the country’s interest(s) or endangering the country’s security.
