Kuwait Modifies New Regulations Regarding the Powers of Attorney

The Ministry of Trade and Economy in Kuwait last month released a statement outlining the new regulation with regards to power of attorney (PoA), which will come into effect in April 05, 2019.

After extensive discussions with various stakeholders the Ministry has amended some of the previously outlined terms. The main amendments include:

• Late filing of the PoA is possible with 1 month from the filing date, however, softcopy of the PoA is mandatory for filing;
• One PoA will be sufficient to file multiple applications belonging to the same applicants.
• PoA’s will still be valid for a period of 10 years.
