2010-TLG Seminar

 

This program will include an economic and legal overview of the Middle East - GCC, Egypt, Lebanon, Asia - China and India. The emphasis will be on understanding the foreign investment regimes prevailing in these countries, recent regulations, disinvestment and monetary policies, foreign exchange regulations, and M&A.

The Middle East segment will cover recent developments and growth witnessed in key market areas of Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates. Speakers will address on topical issues related with M&A and joint venture opportunities, domestic as well as cross border acquisition prospects, and important issues related with global recovery.

Our seasoned speakers will cover topics in Asian context which will include the disinvestment policy and deregulation of public sector in India, the Right to Information regulation, recent transactional experiences in M&A in Indian context, outbound investments and technical issues related with taxation and e-commerce. Nee Hou Wan from our Dubai office will discuss key economic and legal aspects related with China and China's growth, foreign investment, cross-border disputes and intellectual property, asset management and private equity.

SPEAKERS

Mr. Saif Al Shamsi (Dubai) - Saif is a qualified UAE advocate with over two decades of experience in litigation, real estate and dispute resolution throughout the GCC. Saif has handled some of the landmark litigation matters in the region and holds extensive dispute resolution experience in the Middle East, including acting on international arbitrations before the ICC, LCIA and DIAC.

Jonathan Sayer (Qatar) focuses on Middle East banking and finance areas and has a wide-ranging experience in areas of white-collar crime, IPOs, strategic alliances, financing and commercial lending.

Nee Hou Wan (Shanghai) is a seasoned practitioner and has worked on some of the most high profile projects in Asia. His expertise includes construction disputes, contentious shareholder disputes, energy and oil and gas, and inbound as well outbound investments from and within China and Hong Kong.
